2017 has been an eventful year for Tanzanian-born Bongo artist Nasibu Abdul Juma, better known as Diamond Platnumz. He started the year on a high, releasing “Marry You” featuring Ne-Yo. The melodious blend of Ne-Yo’s R&B and Diamond’s African style got many of us dancing to this tune for months. The video did incredibly well, granting Diamond the privilege of becoming the first African artist under Universal Music Group to hit 6x platinum sales. Diamond (also popularly known as Chibu Dangote) had also hinted that he would be getting a reality TV show sometime next year. Though this has not yet come to fruition, fans are anxiously waiting!
The year has not progressed without drama for Chibu and his wife who have seen their fair share of marital conflict. Most recently, in October a storm hit paradise after Diamond was caught in an illicit affair with Tanzanian socialite, Hamisa Mobeto. Mobeto can be easily recognized from Diamond’s popular “Salome” as the pretty girl he sings praises about. The association between the two, however, apparently went beyond just the making of the music video as it was later revealed that they were having an affair that led to the birth of a son.
In a rather shocking turn of events, Diamond revealed during a radio interview that he had indeed cheated on his wife, Ugandan socialite Zari Hassan, with Hamisa. He also admitted to being the father of Hamisa’s baby boy, Abdul Latif Naseeb Abdul Juma. He informed his fans that Zari knew of the affair which had transpired when she was in South Africa for business. He also refuted his earlier claims that Hamisa’s baby was not his and accepted the role of father to his new child.
The singer and his wife are a strong couple that have been known to weather the storms that come with marriage. The two have since made up and continue to raise their children like before. We still hope to see more of the two and their adorable family.
