Linda Ikeji is the epitome of beauty and brains that any young woman would love to emulate. Her star has been shining brightly as a blogger, and the future is looking even brighter with the beauty’s recent expansion into several online media channels. Though she has been blogging videos for a while now, she disclosed on her Instagram page that despite not being able to pursue her dream of being a reporter, she would be employing her own team in a TV station.
Growing up, life was not easy for Ikeji. She, however, like all young girls in the world, had dreams. She started writing at the age of 10, and she has not stopped spreading her tentacles since then. When she got the chance to study at the University of Lagos at 18, things got harder as she had to assist her family back at home by taking on multiple jobs while she put herself through school, but she did not give up.
Two years after completing school, she started blogging at a cybercafé. However, things started looking up in 2007 and she eventually acquired her own domain.Today, she runs her non-profit project called “I’d Rather be Self-Made,” through which she assists young women in their entrepreneurship ventures. Her efforts have been recognized by Forbes in their August 2012 issue as she was featured among Africa’s 20 most prominent women, and was later interviewed by the BBC. She was the most searched item on Google in Nigeria in 2014, adding to her achievements and widespread fame.
She has made history, sometimes being deemed controversial on the internet. In October 2014, Google shut down her blog for two days for reasons that remain undisclosed. Her blogging career has proven to be very lucrative. She took her talents and ambition to the next level in 2016 with the launch of her online TV network, online radio station, and a music website, through her newest business venture, Linda Ikeji Media. Despite some minor hiccups so far in her career, Linda Ikeji has shown how hard work and perseverance can lead to great success. Ikeji is the woman we would all want to be right now and we can only wish her the best in her future endeavors.
