We all know her to outrun, outhit, outplay, out-hustle and outwin in the game of tennis because Serena Williams is truly an unstoppable force. Now, the champion is embarking on one of the biggest new experiences in her life. It still centers around “love,” but this time, it’s away from the court.
The finest women’s professional tennis player is expecting a baby!
Serena Williams and her fiancé, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, are over the moon with joy. Best of all, Williams is revealing some details as she is already 20 weeks (5 months) along. According to the UK’s DailyMail publication, the super athlete made the announcement to fans on her Snapchat page in a one-piece yellow bathing suit that reveals her little baby bump. The beauty held up her phone to a mirror and took the adorable selfie.
Serena was glowing, and you can check out the blessed moment here, as the photo was making its way around social media and places like Twitter. You can certainly see that Serena is in incredible physical shape as a true champion, but to realize that the superstar was pregnant when she won her 23rd grand slam tournament at the Australian Open in late January is remarkable. By the way, she did not lose any sets during the victory final. If we do the math, Serena was already about 8-weeks along during the tournament win over her sister Venus Williams.
In March, Serena withdrew from the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, California. She says it was due to a knee injury. Serena, 35, has been engaged to Alexis, 33, since late December. The happy couple has not announced a date for the wedding, but they appear to be a very private pair compared to most high-profile celebrity couples. Even sister Venus is not aware of all the nuptial details yet but is ready to spring into action when Serena asks for help. It’s a purely exciting time for the family, she told People.com.
For two sisters who dominate in the world of record grand slams, you can be assured that Serena does everything with passion and perfection, and this baby event will be no less spectacular. We do not know if Serena is carrying a baby girl or boy, but we can only imagine the future athlete she will come to bear, especially if her little one enjoys picking up a tennis racket.
Congratulations, Serena and Alexis!
