Work it, girl!
The runways were graced with gorgeous African-American models at New York Fashion Week this year. One of the industry’s freshest faces is Blésnya Minher. The lovely 19 year old captured her special catwalk moments on her Instagram page. Minher was discovered through an open casting call in Angola. She walked for Calvin Klein as her star is just beginning to shine.
It’s time to make way for another celebrity model with amazing DNA and star power. The stunning daughter of Keenan Ivory Wayans, Nala Wayans, strutted her stuff in the Sherri Hill Spring 2018 show this week and was accompanied by Corinne Foxx, daughter of Jamie Foxx, who also walked in the Sherri Hill show. We also spotted our sexy celebrity sisters stopping traffic as they headed to the most fashionable NYC events in town. Vanessa Williams and daughter Jillian Hervey were spotted at the Christian Siriano Spring 2018 show. Nicki Minaj was killin’ it all week long at NYFW, and one of her most memorable ensembles included a cozy black and white fur coat with a hood that she wore to several of the hottest shows.
Designer Tracy Reese was one of the stand-outs at NYFW with her elegant fashion pieces worn by models who were not only ethnically diverse, but did not necessarily conform to the current model physique “standard.” Actress Whoopi Goldberg was in the audience and appreciating the styles that were inclusive of all women. Reese happens to be one of Michelle Obama’s go-to designers. Designer LaQuan Smith slayed at his Spring 2018 presentation; if you’re looking for hot, sexy and bold, this is your man. The hip-handsome designer has been dressing Rihanna, Kim Kardashian West, Tinashe and other gorgeous curvy bodies. Smith used a pep rally high school kind of backdrop for the show. You can see his behind-the-scenes prep work on YouTube.
One of the biggest misses was Yeezy, but there is a sound explanation. Rapper/designer Kanye West did not cancel his fashion show during NYFW 2017 because it was never on the schedule. According to sources like the New York Post’s Page Six, Kanye West decided to skip a season with NYFW and will show his Yeezy Season 6 collection at another time and most likely in a showroom or during a presentation.
